Why I chose for this costume:
My friend and I really wanted to cosplay Chii and Freya.
My friend had a black costume and I wanted to make a white one, yet that short didn't look great on me so I decided to make this pink dress of Chii. I was in my second year of my fashion school and wanted to learn how to work with a lining.
How is it made?
I used 2 simple patterns I had for my Tokyo Mew Mew cosplay.
A simple strapless top and a circle skirt.
I used 3 different lengths of the circle skirt.
The two longer layers are sewn together in one waistband. The shorter one is skirt of its own. I also made a very tiny little petticoat for underneath the first skirt. This would make it a bit poofier.
It was my first time to use a lining. I used it everywhere except for the arm pieces.
Further I used around 40 - 44 meters of ruffles. It took me 2 hours with the 2nd layer skirt already. So I don't know how long it took for the rest. I could give one big advice. Hire a good, long movie and watch it while you are doing this.
My ears are made of foam rubber and a invisible bra-strap.
Other thoughts:
This costume is very special to me. I met my fiancée before the convention and on the convention itself I was in a totally romantic moment. Later that night I dressed into my pj's and kept my wig and ears on. My fiancée (on that moment just a guy I liked very much) kissed me on the convention on a sweet nice old chair.
So this Chii dress reminds me alot on those moments and gives me a warm and pleasant feeling.
